English proficiency for Japanese Business person

What will be necessary proficiency level of English language for Japanese Businessperson? To date, TOEIC (though it is still arguable whether it is relevant scale for the proficiency) score of 700 seems to be satisfactory, and practicing listening comprehension and speaking at day-to-day business occasion are more important.

In fact the actual number of vocabularies used in most of the business scene are rather limited. Just add technical terms that are unique in the company and/or in the business domain you belong.

But there is a reason that I wrote put the remarks “to date”. Fascinating advancement of computer and/or AI technologies in recent years has made the life for Japanese business person more comfortable in terms of English skill. For instance, Chat-GPT can generate “elegant” business letter in a second.

Does it mean we don’t need to learn English as hard as before? It appears that situation is totally on the contrary. Importance of communicating philosophy and policy of business by his/her own words has become more significant, and you cannot delegate such task to Chat GPT(at least at the moment) especially if you are in managerial position.

Yes, we have to keep learning English!
