Spontaneous cleaning and tidying-up of Japanese

I have seen a media coverage that "proudly" reports that the rocker room of national sports team of Japan, football and baseball for instance, was neatly cleaned when they departed after the game. At the same time, they say many Japanese fans at the stadium spontaneously collected garbage These conducts are “praised” as "virtue of Japan".

I think these actions do deserve admiration to certain extent in West Europe where I lived more than a decade…but not as so handsome as many Japanese may imagine.

Firstly, cleaning up public spaces such as football stadium is exclusively assigned to people who do that as a job. If fans do this, it can be seen as “infringement “of their duty.

That having said, the recent concept of SDG’s may change the mind of Europeans in the visible future. But at the moment, such conduct will be welcomed but not be seen as great virtue as many Japanese may think of.
