The Wall between East and West Germany (Part 1)

In 1989, I had the opportunity to study West German culture and language for a year as part of the company's apprenticeship program.

The first two months of training were in Berlin, where I got to know the NHK Symphony clarinet player who met at the Goethe Language School and decided to go sightseeing to East Germany together.
When I passed the border Charlie Checkpoint, where many crosses are lined, I was preached for an hour as the western newspaper laid under the spare tire in my car. And fines of 50 marks x 3 times for stepping on the center line and etc, stopped by policemen standing in every corner. At the checkpoint on the way back again, back seat was taken off and stuck in the gas tank to check hidden people inside of my car. There is no longer an East Germany that has vowed never come to this country again.
