Surrounding Walking Path of Ljubljana, Slovenia

The population of Slovenia is about only 2 million. Its capital Ljubljana is a small city with 280 thousand people.

There is a castle on a hill and the old town at the foot of the castle is beautiful with a river and greens.
It is said that security is better than Tokyo and it is good for walking around.
Ljubljana has a 33 km long walking path surrounding the city. Many people are enjoying walking and bicycle riding on their free times.

However this path has also a purpose to remember a severe history of the city.
During the World War 2, Ljubljana was besieged by Italian forces and later by German forces with barbed-wire from 1941 to 1945 for 1170 days.
Its comings and goings were severely restricted.

In order to keep their severe memory and comradeship, this 33 km long path was put in place on the besieged barbed-wire line.
