Matsutake mushroom in Algeria

Matsutake is a king of taste in autumn. In the Atlas Mountains of Algeria, matsutake with good shape, taste and aroma was harvested in autumn.

To the south from the capital Algiers, there was a high mountain called Chrea. I drove a 4x4 car in narrow road and parked in a small village square, and I shouted "Ma Tsu Ta Ke!" In Japanese instead of French.

Then, about 10 children and adults with plastic bags gathered around the car.

I put a scale on the hood and checked Matsutake one by one. Offer price was very cheap about 200 yen/kg, but children have chosen ballpoint pens or chocolates instead of money. What's more, the thumb of my right hand holding the scale slightly hold the tray and adjusted it, so that 2kg pointed to 1kg.

I was a dishonest foreigner, but they were happy too, so it was WIN WIN after all.
