Harry and John.

I spent the first four years of my career with a manufacturer, working in ‘direct sales staff’ on a daily basis. When I turned 28, my wish was granted and I was transferred to Toronto, Canada. Canada is a vast country, 5,000 km east to west, 3,000 km north to south, and with the Canadian Rockies, Niagara Falls and the great outdoors. My six years of visiting dealerships in each Canadian city have begun.

When I first visited a dealership and greeted the president, I called him 'Mr. Stockwell', but the president of the dealer, who was as old as my own father, said 'stranger' to be called 'Mr.'. He asked me to call him by his first name, 'John', and I was surprised and said, "What⁈ The dealer president ‘John’ said I will call you 'Harry'.

At first, I was reluctant to call someone who is as old as a parent by his first name.
But afterwards, I will tell you about many lessons I learnt from a relationship where we naturally called each other "John" and "Harry".
