Improtant things in overseas work

I spent 37 years involved in overseas sales, including living for more than 17 years in the UK as an expatriate, I accumulated about 3 million airmiles and visited more than 24 countries.
From that experience, I was truly learnt the importance of familiar "food".

About 30 years ago, when I was on a business trip to North America with a Japanese colleague, we visited several customers in Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio with our North American Sales Rep. We spent two weeks traveling by plane or car every day, having meetings with customers, having lunch with customers, having dinner with Rep. members at night, and eating mostly American food every day. My colleague was clearly exhausted from all the travelling and unfamiliar food, and his complexion and posture changed before me, and he was obviously in a very bad mood...

However, after just eating a few pieces of sushi at a Japanese restaurant, his complexion instantly looked better and his smile returned.
After that, I always check if there is a Japanese restaurant nearby on my business trips.
